An Empty Bowl
Good evening. For purposes of information I am an energy essence who chooses not to be incorporated within the physical realm at this point. I am not a ghost! (Laughter. There was a discussion about ghosts before fellowship.)
I do however bring you spiritual energy. I bring you healing. I bring you love. Please feel that energy as it circulates through the room. During our conversation this evening many of you will receive a “spiritual boost.”
I have been asked in reference to the creativity mentioned before, “But De Rah, if you are an expert in something, if you are a specialist in something, does that not help your creativity?” Might I remind you that those people in transportation, the experts in making wagon wheels and buggy harnesses, did not invent the automobile. The experts in railroad did not invent an airplane. To move beyond the narrow confines of your left brain is what indicates and authenticates your creativity.
You are messengers of light. You are beings of light. You are beings of energy. As beings of light, as beings of energy, as beings of Spirit, sometimes you are as children on a long trip who watch the back of the seat in front of them and never look out of the window. It is very easy in your world to become focused or fixated on one portion of your existence and simply not see the rest of reality as it goes by outside your window.
“Look within and know that you are the Buddha.” “Heaven is within each of you.” “My father is in each of your hearts.” (Quotes from Buddha, Sananda and Mythros) Your greatest teachers and your greatest philosophers, the Lord Buddha, Sananda and Mythros have told you that you are Spirit, you are beings of light.
I would like to pass along a story. My friend the other day had occasion to stop and speak with a pottery instructor, so I would like to tell you the story of a bowl.
From a piece of clay picked up and selected by an artist, sifted and pounded, mixed with fluids, placed on a wheel and spun, worked by the hand of an artist over and over again, at times collapsed, pounded upon, placed back on the wheel and spun yet again, baked in an oven, painted and decorated, baked yet again in an oven, this lump of clay has become a bowl.
You in your society look at the bowl and say, “This is wonderful! Look how it has been decorated. See how it has been painted. See how wonderfully made and shaped it is.” Yet I tell you, the purpose of the bowl is the empty space in the center.
You are that bowl and you have been shaped by your own hand. Your own decisions, your own thoughts, your own ideas have shaped who you are and yes, you are all works in progress. Sometimes you go through the oven and are made beautiful by the heat. Other times you sit on a shelf waiting to be noticed. You are constantly changing yourself. You are adding to your decoration. You are changing the color. You are refining the work on the outside. Yet the most important part of you is the inside, the space for Spirit.
There are people in your world who are so full of themselves that there is no room for Spirit in their lives. When you have filled the bowl nothing more will fit in. If you fill your bowl with yourself where is the room for Spirit? If you know everything where is the room for your intuition? If everything can be proved by formula where is the space for Spirit to speak to you and bring you that information which is not available in a formula? If everything in your bowl is physical where is the space for the emotional and the spiritual? If everything in your bowl is material where is the space for love?
People say, "De Rah, when I meditate I have a difficult time. My mind moves to those things that I need to accomplish. My mind moves to those bills I have not paid, or the work that I must do, or the places I must visit today." When that happens to you your mind stops. When it stops it focuses upon that one item and therefore you do not see the rest of the world as it goes by your window. Your bowl becomes full of that one item and leaves no room for Spirit.
Imagine in your meditation if you will that you tip your bowl slightly, so that as the water of your mind flows in it flows right on out. It only really fits in around the edges and then it flows out of the cleared bowl leaving the majority of the space open for Spirit to present information. As all things are connected information that you receive from your guides and teachers will automatically work toward the resolution of any physical or emotional problem you may have, but only if you leave room, only if your bowl is not stuffed so full of problems that it has no space for solutions.
In your mind as you meditate picture your bowl. See it fill with the problems and concerns of the day. Then tip it over and dump it out and allow it to stay at an angle where anything coming into it flows right on through, leaving the majority of the space open for Spirit, open for information, and open for intuition.
You will learn that there is a rhythm to this. If you were to stand physically holding a bowl of water in your hands and allowing it to flow back and forth within the bowl, you would see that there is a rhythm in that back and forth flow. There is a rhythm in your meditation. There is in fact a rhythm to everything in your life and everything in your world. We will discuss those rhythms at a later date. For now merely be aware that there is a rhythm in your meditation that allows left brain information to come in and flow out, come in and flow out, come in and flow out, allowing more than enough space for Spirit.
If you interrupt the rhythm your bowl becomes full. Allow it to flow in and flow out, flow in and flow out, flow in and flow out. This is a difficult concept to express within the confines of your language, as it is not one that can be readily demonstrated. Your language lacks the ability to describe those things that are of Spirit or of the emotions. It is as impossible to describe first love or fear. Any description is inadequate. The best we are able to do for you this evening is to bring to you the mental picture of water being brought into a bowl and flowing out of it. Flowing in and out and leaving the center of the bowl essentially empty. The void is where you will find Spirit. I hope that concept has been made sufficiently clear to you this evening. It is one you will find helpful beginning in your meditation and carrying over into your everyday lives.
Please allow a deep breath of inspiration to fill your lungs. As you release that breath feel the energy and the love brought to you this evening. Know that we watch over you. Know that your guides and teachers are there to help and that your guides and teachers may turn to us and ask for assistance. It has been a pleasure to be with you once again. In the service of love I bid you good night.
